Connecting the Adapter to the SP-ICE-3 Card

The TruPulse Nano / SPI Laser-Adapter is delivered with two ribbon cables, which should be used to connect the adapter to the card as follows:

SP-ICE-3 Card

Notes

J3

X402

Caution note  Caution

Make sure that the SP-ICE-3 Card is not powered when connecting to X402, otherwise the FPGA will be damaged.

J4

X1000

In order to control laser power via the analog output of J1 you must connect J4 to X1000 Analog on the SP-ICE-3 Card.

Interlock Circuit

The Interlock switch connected to J2 pulls Pin 15 of J1 to GND. If the Interlock loop is open, the pull-up resistor disables the laser.

The interlock state can be observed in the SPI register bit 16 and 17.

If the interlock loop is open LED D10 on the slot bracket will blink red with a one second period time.

Slot Bracket LEDs

D8 lights blue if the SPI Interface has its VIO voltage enabled. The VIO voltage can be enabled in the SPI register bit 30. The VIO voltage can also be enbled by the DIP-switch S1 bit 4.

D9 lights white if the Laser_Emission_Gate is driven active.

D10 lights yellow if the laser reports an Alarm. D10 blinks yellow if the interlock loop is open regardless of the Alarm signal.

D11 lights red if the laser reports System_Fault or Bead_Delivery.

Board LEDs

LED D1 is the overall status indicator. It lights green only if the following conditions are met:

  • Laser Monitor signal is inactive

  • Laser Alarm signal is inactive

  • Laser_Temperature signal is inactive

  • Laser Beam_Delivery signal is inactive

  • Laser System_Fault signal is inactive

  • Laser_Deactivated signal is inactive (interlock is closed)

  • SPI Interface 5.5V voltage is enabled

  • SPI Interface digital drivers are enabled

D2 lights yellow if the Monitor signal is active.

D3 lights yellow if the Laser_Temperature signal is active.

D4 lights yellow if the Alarm signal is active.

D5 lights yellow if the interlock is open.

D6 lights red if the Sytem_Fault signal is active.

D7 lights red if the Beam_Delivery signal is active.
