5.7 Providing External Access to an Internally installed Card |
An internally installed SP-ICE-3 Card is normally only accessible to the Host-PC in which it is installed.
Here are various procedures for allowing additional access to the card from an external PC (Other-PC
).
Even if the card is already installed internally in the Host-PC, it is perfectly possible to use an Ethernet cable plugged into X801 to access the card from the Other-PC
From the the Other-PC's point of view, the card appears to be installed Externally or in Peer-To-Peer mode.
Note |
---|
Although it is technically possible to use either IPv6 or IPv4 for a Peer-To-Peer connection between the card and the Other-PC , we do not recommend using IPv4 in this situation, since it requires very careful manual assignment of suitable addresses to avoid APIPA address-collision on the card's eth0 and eth1 interfaces. |
With the card internally installed in the Host-PC, it may not be convenient or desirable to connect an additional Ethernet cable between the Other-PC and X801 on the card.
It this case, you can access the card from the Other-PC by using one of the methods described here:
