5.5.2 Obtaining Card IP-Addresses |
Normally, we can rely on the Discovery mechanism to help us find our SP-ICE-3 Cards.
In this case, we don't need to know any individual card's IP address (which might vary anyway, depending on the local network configuration).
For some applications, it may be convenient to assign a fixed IP address to each card permanently.
Then we need only make a careful record of which address was assigned to what card, in order to be able to use the address(es) after the fact.
There may, however, be circumstances in which we wish to use card addresses explicitly, but without knowing (or even having assigned) them in advance, such as when writing our own client applications, for instance.
In the following sections, we look at various ways to obtain the address(es) of our card(s).
