4.1 XY2-100 Adapters

RAYLASE GmbH offers these adapters in two variants:

Order Number

Variant

Application

08001

XY2-100 Adapter SP-ICE-3 Set

Controlling a single XY2-100 ScanHead (Head 0).

14009

XY2-100 Adapter SP-ICE-3 Dual Mode Set

Note: each Set contains a single Adapter.

To control two ScanHeads, two Sets are required.

Single Adapter Set

Controlling a single XY2-100 ScanHead (Head 0).

Pair of Adapter Sets

Controlling TWO XY2-100 ScanHeads (Head 0 and Head 1).

  • Both adapters must be connected to the same SP-ICE-3 Card, one via X403 (GPIOE) , the other via X402 (GPIOD).

  • Use of X402 (GPIOD) for the XY2-100 Dual Mode Adapter precludes the use of any Laser Adapter on that port!
For details, see: this note, below.

Connector Locations

* the destination of J3 depends on the adapter variant; see below.

Connecting the XY2-100 Adapter to the SP-ICE-3 Card

The XY2-100 Adapter is delivered with two ribbon cables, which should be used to connect to the card as follows:

Adapter

SP-ICE-3 Card

Notes

J3

X403 (GPIOE)

Caution note  Caution

Make sure that the SP-ICE-3 Card is not powered when connecting to X403, otherwise the FPGA will be damaged.

J4

X1000

In order to control laser power via the analog output of J2 you must connect J4 to X1000 Analog on the SP-ICE-3 Card.

However, if you wish to use a separate laser interface adapter that requires the connection to X1000 itself (for example, the TruPulse Nano / SPI Laser-Adapter), you should disconnect and remove the cable from J4. In this case the analog output of J2 will not be available.

Connecting ONE XY2-100 Adapter Dual Mode Set to the SP-ICE-3 Card for a SINGLE ScanHead

The XY2-100 Adapter Dual Mode is delivered with two ribbon cables, which should be used to connect to the card as follows:

Adapter

ScanHead

SP-ICE-3 Card

Notes

J3

Head 0

Connecting TWO XY2-100 Adapter Dual Mode Sets to the SP-ICE-3 Card for DUAL ScanHeads

Each XY2-100 Adapter Dual Mode is delivered with two ribbon cables, which should be used to connect to the card as follows:

Adapter

ScanHead

SP-ICE-3 Card

Notes

J3

Head 0

X403 (GPIOE)

Caution note  Caution

Make sure that the SP-ICE-3 Card is not powered when connecting to X403 (GPIOE), otherwise the FPGA will be damaged.

J3

Head 1

X402 (GPIOD)

Caution note  Caution

Make sure that the SP-ICE-3 Card is not powered when connecting to X402 (GPIOD), otherwise the FPGA will be damaged.

Note  Note

When X402 (GPIOD) is occupied by the XY2-100 Dual Mode adapter, the port cannot be used for any of the following Laser Adapters:

J4

X1000

In order to control laser power via the analog output of J2 you must connect J4 to X1000 Analog on the SP-ICE-3 Card.

Note: only one of the Adapters can have its J4 connected to the SP-ICE-3 Card.
