Connecting the Adapter to the SP-ICE-3 Card

The IPG-compatible Adapter is delivered with one ribbon cable, which should be used to connect the adapter to the card as follows:

Caution note  Caution

Make sure that the SP-ICE-3 Card is not powered when connecting to X402, otherwise the FPGA will be damaged.

Interlock Circuit

The Interlock switch connected to J2 pulls pin 23 of J1 to 5V (VIO).
When the interlock loop is open, the pull-down resistor disables the laser.

The interlock state can be observed in the SPI register bits 12 and 13.

When the interlock loop is open, LED D10 on the slot bracket blinks yellow with a one second period.

Description

D8

Blue

ON

The IPG-compatible Adapter has its VIO voltage enabled.

  • The VIO voltage is automatically enabled in all modes except Universal Laser mode.

  • In Universal Laser mode, the VIO voltage can be enabled via SPI register bit 30.

D9

White

ON

The Emission_Enable signal is driven active.

D10

Yellow

BLINKING

ON

The interlock loop (J2) is open (regardless of any alarm signals).

The interlock loop (J2) is closed, but the laser reports an alarm (including System alarm, if applicable).

D11

Red

ON

The laser reports a System Alarm.

  • This is only available in IPG B, C, D, and E modes.

  • A System Alarm is reported from the laser by the signal combination Alarm1 = 1, Alarm2 = 1 and Alarm3 = 0.

  • In Super Mode the function of D11 is configurable.

IPG-compatible Laser Selection

The IPG-compatible Adapter supports numerous IPG-compatible lasers.

These lasers differ mainly by which pins on connector J1 are alarm signals and whether these alarm signals are high- or low-active.

The appropriate settings for a specific laser can be selected via DIP switch S1
